The impediment to action advances action. What stands in the way becomes the way

MISSION:

Recalibrate and Rise

At Azura Veterans Coalition, we are committed to providing a comprehensive range of services to support the diverse needs of veterans and their families. Our center serves as a one-stop hub for accessible, tailored assistance using a case management approach to help veterans smoothly transition to civilian life and thrive in their post-military endeavors.

Learn About Our Services

  • Our expert staff helps veterans navigate the complex landscape of available benefits, including access to healthcare, disability compensation, education and vocational training, housing support, and more. We guide veterans through the application process, ensuring they receive the full scope of benefits they are entitled to. We accommodate a certified Veteran Benefits Counselor from the Arizona Department of Veteran Services as well as a certified Post-9/11 National Service Officer from the Wounded Warrior Project.

  • We offer career counseling, resume building workshops, and job placement assistance to help veterans secure meaningful employment opportunities. Additionally, our center collaborates with a network of employers who value the unique skills and experiences veterans bring to the workforce.

  • Ensuring veterans have reliable computer and internet access is essential for connecting them with vital resources, support, and employment opportunities. We are also partnered with an agency that provides free refurbished computers. See our calendar for distribution dates.

  • Veterans can access financial planning seminars, debt management advice, and legal aid services at our resource center. We aim to empower veterans with the knowledge and resources needed to achieve financial stability and address any legal matters they may encounter.

  • Building a strong community is essential for veterans' well-being. Our center organizes regular support groups, social events, and recreational activities to connect veterans with peers who understand their journey and can provide invaluable support.

  • Whether veterans are pursuing higher education or seeking to develop new skills, our center offers access to educational resources, including information on GI Bill benefits, scholarship opportunities, and academic guidance. We are also always looking to hire veterans through the VA work-study program.

  • We recognize the impact of military service on veterans' families. Our resource center provides family support services to address the unique needs of spouses, children, and other family members, fostering a supportive environment for the entire veteran community.

  • For veterans facing housing challenges, our center offers guidance on affordable housing options, rental and utility assistance programs, and connections to local housing resources.

  • We offer bus passes and gas cards on a case by case basis to access essential medical appointments, job searching opportunities and community resources.

  • Our staff members are committed to providing trauma-informed care to all veterans who seek our support. Our team understands the profound and lasting impact of trauma on individuals and takes a compassionate, empathetic approach in all interactions. By being trauma-informed, our staff creates a safe and supportive environment where veterans feel heard, understood, and respected. Through ongoing education and training, our staff members continuously enrich their understanding of trauma and its effects, ensuring that they are equipped to provide the highest level of care and support to our veterans.

  • Mesa Veterans Court is a collaborative process that includes the prosecutor, defense counsel, Judge, and sometimes the federal or local state's Department of Veteran Affairs and other community-based support organizations. The goal of Veterans Court is to rehabilitate and restore veterans as active, contributing members of their community.

Veterans Court programs typically focus on veterans who are currently in, or entering, the Criminal Justice System. The Court creates and supervises treatment plans to address the underlying causes of the veteran's behavior and/or substance abuse issues. Issues commonly addressed by the such treatment programs include:

    Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

    Traumatic Brain Injury

    Anger issues

    Domestic Violence

    Alcohol abuse

    Drug Abuse

By focusing on the root problems that contribute to involvement with the criminal justice system and providing specific rehabilitation programs, the Veterans Court provides an opportunity for the veteran to return to the community in a more advantageous and beneficial manner.

Azura Veterans Coalition provide staff or veteran volunteer to assist the court. The AVC also holds regular training, forums and continued assistance to ensure each veteran is given the chance they need to move forward in life.

Through these comprehensive services, Azura Veterans Coalition's resource center is dedicated to empowering veterans and their families to achieve success and fulfillment beyond their military careers. We remain steadfast in our commitment to serving those who have served our country with honor and dedication.
